Guru Ka Bagh Gurudwara Sahib's replica.

The first replica was that of the Gurudwara at Sri Guru Ravidas Ji's birth place in Benares, U.P. It was in Benares that Guru Ravi Das Ji handed over the religious scriptures (Gurbani) to Guru Nanak Dev Ji and, from there, these were passed on from Guru to Guru till the fifth Sikh guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji, who went on to register these scriptures into The Guru Granth Sahib (The holy book) . So the Gurudwaras at Benares hold quite na important place in Sikh history as this is he place where The Guru Granth Sahib's (The holy book of the sikhs) foundation was laid.

Gurudwara at Benares (Click Image to enlarge)

Replica of Gurudwara at Guru Ravidas Ji's birth place.

When Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited Banaras, a pious man named Gopal Pandit brought Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji to his place and requested him to stay there and inspire people using bhakti and kirtan. Guru Nanak Dev Ji stayed there for a month. During this period Bhagat Ravidass met Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and handed him the bani. Later when Guru Nanak Dev Ji left the place Gopal Pandit requested Guru Nanak to give him the opportunity of a seva. Guru Nanak Dev Ji asked him to make this place as a dharamshala and serve people there. This has now been convereted into a Gurdwara.
